Continuous alarm
A loud two-tone alarm loops for as long as the lock screen is open, making the handset conspicuous to use in public.
Location reporting
If location permission was granted, each time the app opens it reports a fresh fix with a timestamp to your dashboard.
This is a deterrent, not a replacement for Find My
Trace&Trap only acts while the companion app is opened, has been granted location permission, and the phone has connectivity. It cannot run if the app is deleted, the phone is offline, or the device is wiped. Always keep Apple's Find My iPhone or Google's Find My Device switched on as your primary recovery tool, and report theft to your carrier and the police.
